I think not Try travelling in a big city like SFO. At least you're paying a median price for your commute, and since you're traveling a small distance, you're subsidizing people who're travel end to end. But 1.75 for one way travel is not costly, because when you're comparing car vs. public transit, you need to consider car costs + maintenance + parking + congestion + pollution At least you have Marta in Atlanta, I'm stuck with nothing in Detroit :-) The price is prohibitive… I think not
